, is
proud
to introduce its new line of prefabricated expansion
joints. Expansion joints
are used to
relieve the stresses associated with temperature changes and fluctuations
in the substrate of tile installations.
"While the use of expansion joints has always been important, recent changes in
ANSI standards
make their use critical." John Vogel founder and president of
National Metal Shapes stated.
" Installation professionals would often leave a
space then go back and caulk or fill the expansion
slot after the rest of the
installation was completed. The prefabricated expansion joint allows contractors
to ‘set it and forget it’ so to speak, allowing them to complete more work in less
time.
And time is money."
The trims can be custom ordered in solid aluminum in 8 different finishes including:
Bright Gold,
Bright Silver, Satin Gold, Satin Silver, Bronze, Pewter, Black, and a natural
or Mill finish. Solid brass is also available. The caulking in the center is an architectural
grade polyurethane sealant in compliance
with all ANSI requirements and as recommended
in the TCA Handbook for Tile Installation. The
sealant is available in 25 standard colors
and custom color matching is available. Even the width of the
joint can be customized.
Expansion joints are available for ¼, 5/16, 3/8, ½, and 11/16" tiles in aluminum and
for ¼, 5/16, 3/8, and ½" tiles in solid brass.
